Can Dataiku Cloud Stacks / Fleet Manager Use RHEL Instead of AlmaLinux?

I have deployed Dataiku DSS on AWS using both:

• Cloud Stacks with Fleet Manager
• Custom Dataiku installation on Linux

For a custom installation, RHEL is supported according to the Dataiku documentation:

However, for Cloud Stacks / Fleet Manager, I have only seen AlmaLinux being used, and I could not find documentation about using another Linux distribution.

Could you please confirm:

1. Is AlmaLinux the only supported OS for AWS Cloud Stacks / Fleet Manager?
2. Can Fleet Manager or Fleet Manager-managed DSS instances run on RHEL?
3. If a customer requires RHEL due to security or OS standardization policies, should we use a Custom Dataiku installation instead of Cloud Stacks?
4. Is there any supported way to use a custom RHEL AMI with Fleet Manager?

I would also like to understand whether AlmaLinux is a technical requirement of Cloud Stacks or simply the default OS/image provided by Dataiku.

Hi

As of today, Dataiku Fleet Manager does not support running RHEL based DSS instances. AlmaLinux is the only OS supported in this specific case.

Fleet Manager itself can run on RHEL, though you will need a custom installation of it instead of the public template and image.

Supporting RHEL is a legit request and we are working on making it available for Fleet Manager users. If using RHEL is a hard requirement on your side, we suggest you contact your Dataiku representative to design your installation in a way that will ease the future migration to Fleet Manager when RHEL support is offered.
