Using visual recipe as plugin template?

Is it possible to use a visual recipe (e.g. the Group recipe) as a template for a plugin? We'd essentially like to just customize the behaviour of group and adding some extra functionality to it. For example, we'd like to add medians and output to different datasets based on different group by columns.

This won't let you create a plugin but you can do that using multiple grouping recipes using a custom aggregation to get the median.
If you really want a plugin, you should create either a pySpark recipe or a Python recipe that runs a SQL query, these can be transformed into plugins.
