Provide a Gender Meaning that is not strictly binary

User Story

As a data analyst who wishes to respect individuals' gender preferences, it would be great to have a data meaning built into Dataiku DSS of type Gender that was not strictly binary.  Out of the box being able to respect a broader set of identities.

COS:

  • By default, a Gender other than "M' or 'F' should not come up as an error in the data column.

A good start might be to add NB as a valid value

Iโ€™m wondering if this meaning should be in alignment with some ISO or other standard.

ISO/IEC 5218 is an example of such standard however is clearly out of date with current usage.  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO/IEC_5218

And DSS does not use that standard any way.

Does anyone know of a standard like ISO 5218 that has caught up with current usages?
