Dataset charts and dashboard insights sync

Hi all,
I’m facing an issue with dataset charts vs dashboard insights.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a chart in dataset X (Charts tab).
2. Publish it to a dashboard as an insight.
3. Go back to the dataset and make changes to the chart (filters, axes, colors, etc.).
4. The dashboard insight does not update.
5. If I edit the chart directly inside the dashboard insight, the changes do not reflect back in the dataset chart.
6. I’d prefer to maintain the “master chart” inside the dataset, and have the dashboard always reflect those changes automatically.

Is there any way to:

• keep charts in dataset and dashboard synced?
• or link a dataset chart to a dashboard insight so edits propagate?

Right now I have to delete the insight and re-publish it every time, which becomes painful when managing many charts.

Any recommended workflow?

Hi,

The dataset charts and insights are separate entities that cannot be synchronised after creation. To see your modifications reflected in the dashboards, you would have to edit your insight directly. You can access the insight via the insights list, or directly through the dashboard that this insight is published in (clicking on the 'Open insight' button in the tile header).
