Firefox crashes when I click on "Start!" to start using DSS for first time

Setup:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit guest running in Oracle VirtualBox on Windows 7 host.

I downloaded and installed dataiku-dss-4.0.5 as per the instructions at https://www.dataiku.com/dss/trynow/linux/, running it on port 11000.

I start up Firefox (54.0), go to http://localhost:11000/ and click on the existing account link. I end up at the following screen:

But when I click on 'Start' Firefox crashes immediately! Any idea how to fix this please?

BTW I had no problems installing DSS on a VM running a later version of ubuntu (16.04), so maybe it's that?? But the requirements page at https://doc.dataiku.com/dss/latest/installation/requirements.html says 14.04 is supported.

I worked around it by installing Google Chrome and using that instead to access DSS.
