NVIDIA GPU support/configuration on a windows machine running linux subsystem

I am using DSS through windows 10 which hosts the DSS on the ubuntu 18.04 LTS subsystem. I have a EGPU running NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Founders edition which works perfectly on windows 10, but I'm having major issues making it work on the Ubuntu subsystem because nvidia-smi somehow doesn't communicate with my graphics driver. Is there any way to have DSS point to the windows drivers and use the eGPU as a driver?

The only other option is use my Linux machine unfortunately runs 20.04 which isn't compatible with DSS and it took me night and day to be able to get the eGPU working by configuring the xserver and disabling the secure boot.

Do you have advice on how to get DSS GPU support on a windows machine?

Hi,

As far as we can tell, it is impossible to use a NVidia GPU through WSL on Windows (this issue seems to confirm that it's not possible: https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/829 https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/3847)
