Automating excel file import from local system

I am working on a project which requires me to import excel file from my local system on a weekly basis.

I want to automate this import and was wondering if dataiku has an option to go pick it up from the local folders on my system

You can create a webapp to upload your excel file into a DSS managed folder.
There is a tutorial available in the knowledge base to help you set up the webapp.
